The Challenges That Can Change a Pregnancy Decision

The Challenges That Can Change a Pregnancy Decision

Pregnancy is a life changing event! Whether it’s planned or unplanned finding out you’re pregnant can be very surprising news. Unplanned pregnancies often bring up more shock which then can grow to fear, stress, or loneliness. This can be a scary time for some women which is why we want to talk about the challenges that pregnant women face to let you know that you are not alone.

Right now, you may be feeling overwhelmed, but we want you to know those feelings don’t have to mark your pregnancy. There is support out there for you.

Not only does Birth Choice have many resources but we also know of many programs available to you throughout the community. If you are pregnant and do not want to continue your pregnancy because of your circumstances can I tell you something? You are not the only woman who has faced these same challenges. Although right now you may be telling yourself it’s different for me because_____. I want to tell you we are here for you. If you are feeling cornered, you probably aren’t giving yourself the opportunity to make an educated choice due to fear or stress.

It’s important for you to know that in order to make a decision you need to have equal information about ALL of your options.  Just like if you were to go and buy a car right now; you couldn’t decide what car would be best for you if you only looked at one car and didn’t do any research on any other cars. That’s why Birth Choice is here, not to help you research cars, but to provide you with information on all the choices available to you when facing an unplanned pregnancy.

Maybe you or someone you know has had abortion in the past because their situation was tough. Maybe you never thought you would be in this position. Let’s talk about some of the circumstances that can lead women to feel pressured to have an abortion.

For many it’s because of the father of the baby. Either he is not supportive of her continuing the pregnancy or she doesn’t want him to be the father of her future children. If this sounds like what you are going through right now, I want you to know that you are capable of being an excellent mom whether or not he wants to be or would be a good dad. Who you are as a mom does not have to be impacted by his desire or ability to be a dad. After all, the moment you found out you’re pregnant you are already a mom. Now the question you could ask yourself isn’t, “if” you want to be a mom but what kind of mom do you want to be? There are many support groups available to single moms. One group that we love is called Embrace Grace, check them out, https://embracegrace.com/.

Another reason a woman might feel pressured to abort is because she is not ready to be a mom. I hear women say all the time that one day they want to be a mom but not yet. Of course being a mom can be scary, and there are many reasons you may feel like you are not ready, but I have a question for you. Do you think you will ever be ready? Few feel fully prepared when the time comes and fear can lead us to feel inadequate. However, you do have it within you to be a great mom! I know your heart is to want the very best for your child. If you are willing to work hard, you can be that mom, even if you don’t feel ready right now.  Birth Choice offers prenatal and parenting classes that can prepare you with the knowledge you feel you’re lacking and with physical items you may need. The help of your parenting mentor allows you to know that you are not alone and feel supported throughout the journey.

A big reason that keeps a lot of us from doing many things is MONEY. A lot of women are scared of being able to provide for their child. This is a real concern that you should think through. Like I said above, we do offer ways for women to get baby supplies through our classes which can help with the financial burden of having a baby. However, if you are struggling to take care of yourself right now and know there is no possible way you could provide for another person.

Let me suggest another option for you, ADOPTION. This isn’t for everyone but if you are worried about the life you will be able to provide for your baby, it sounds like you really love your baby already. Adoption is one of the most selfless decisions a woman can make. Choosing adoption allows you to place your baby in an environment where the parents are ready to provide and care for a baby. This allows you to give your baby the life you envisioned. Did you know you can even keep in contact with the adoptive family? Open adoption allows you to stay in touch with the family and your child. We would love to give you more information about this. You can also check out this story of a previous client of ours who placed for adoption..

We understand that there are many things that can push women toward abortion in an unplanned pregnancy and the ones we listed are not the only things. We know unplanned pregnancies can be a lot but we are here for you. You do not have to deal with this alone. Call us today or make an appointment online so we can help you process this and provide you with the education and emotional support you may need to feel empowered about the choice you make.
