How to Emotionally Heal Following an Abortion

How to Emotionally Heal Following an Abortion

Healing emotionally following an abortion can be a difficult and sensitive time.

Sadly, we at Birth Choice see many cases of women who feel grief, regret and pain after choosing an abortion and we want to come alongside those women. This, of course, is not easy to do. So, whoever you are that is reading this article, know that you are deeply loved and you are not alone.

Do Women Regret Their Abortion?

According to the Guttmacher Institute in their 2016 release: nearly half of pregnancies among American women in 2011 were unintended, and about four-in-ten of these were terminated by abortion, but many never talk about it.

We are here to support those who are hurting and in need. We truly do believe that women can heal from this experience and we want to join in that journey of healing. Thank you for engaging in this conversation with us … we think it will benefit many.

A really good question to ask is, “Why would anyone need to heal from having an abortion?”

Our answer to that question is that research shows many women experience guilt and self-destructive behaviors such as eating disorders, shame, relationship problems, clinical depression and even suicidal thoughts after having an abortion.

Some women report problems related to their abortion months or even years later. This is why this experience is so important to discuss. It can permeate every area of a person’s life whether physical, emotional or spiritual. Abortion can be devastating and hard to navigate alone.

We no longer want to avoid or deny the damage that an abortion can have on individuals who have made that decision. Regardless of the finality of an abortion, there is hope and a path to peace. One place to start is with www.abortionchangesyou.com. This website provides tools and information for men and women who are on the path to healing.
