“Our lives are a sum total of the choices we have made.” -Wayne Dyer
Happy happy happy New Year! We love fresh starts and I’m sure you do to! This year at Birth Choice we want to focus our energy on an empowering concept, and that concept is…choices! Why did we choose this theme? BECAUSE CHOICES ARE EVERYWHERE! We choose big things and we choose little things. We choose who we marry, how we spend our money and how we raise our children. We choose what to wear, what to say, what to eat and the list goes on and on and on. Making choices is inevitable and dictates much of the life we lead. This is why we are choosing to talk about choices (see what I did there?). We believe that good choices can be made. We also believe that people need others to help make good choices. littlescholarsnyc.com Simply put, we believe that there is so much power in our choices.
Now, we do want to address a real struggle in life and that is: when others make choices that harm us. There is no need to sugar coat the pain that other people’s choices have in our lives. It is real and it is difficult. We all have experienced it in one way or another. Here is where it is redeemed… we respond to those choices with our own choices. Let me repeat that because it is so important. We respond to the choices that others make with our own choices. We can choose strength. We can choose dignity. We can choose love. And no one can take those choices from us!
If you really think about it, our lives are truly the sum of the choices we have made. Birth Choice just wants your life to be full of peace, love, confidence and hope! As you ponder New Year resolutions and what is to come in 2019, we hope you pause and consider our theme of “Choices”. Birth Choice is here for you as you make choices in this next year. 2019 is full of unknowns and in many ways, that is so so exciting! Finally, we leave you with a beautiful story that the Cherokees used to tell about the choices we make. Hopefully it challenges you in 2019!
One evening, an elderly Cherokee brave told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.
He said, “My son, the battle is between two ‘wolves’ inside us all. One is evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.
The other is good. It is joy, peace love, hope serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.”
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf wins?”
The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you CHOOSE to feed.”
